Fall Into Healthy Habits
By Donna Stark
Are you ready to fall into fall? If so, join the crowd! The crisp air, the change in colors, the Friday night lights, and the wonderful flavors of the season are definitely things to look forward to. And with so much to enjoy, you aren't going to want to miss out on anything. That's why you need to make sure you don't just fall into fall, but that you fall into some healthy habits as well! Keep reading to find out more!
Revamp Your Favorite Comfort Foods
There is nothing like the flavor and texture of our favorite comfort foods. These are the foods we grew up on. The foods we turn to when our days are bad and our emotions high. But as comforting as they are, they aren't always the healthiest so you may want to think about ways you can modify them. For example, if soup is a favorite, try to avoid the cream-based ones loaded with melted cheese and opt for a vegetable soup loaded with fiber-rich and nutrient-dense vegetables instead. Or choose mashed sweet potatoes over loaded baked potatoes. Each bite will be filled with nutrition!
Build Your Immune System
We all know what happens when the weather gets colder ... cold and flu season enters our lives. So, it's important to make sure your immune system is running at peak performance, and you can do that by filling your days with immunity-boosting foods. Try to consume more citrus, garlic, ginger, spinach, and broccoli, and fatty fish. And don't forget to stay properly hydrated too!
Maintain a Consistent Sleep Schedule
The weather is this beautiful and there are so many activities to do, but there is an even more important reason to wake up at your usual time on the weekends. It's your circadian rhythm and in case you didn't know, it hates to be thrown off course. So, try to maintain a consistent sleep schedule by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day!
Modify Your Fitness Routine
Well, you stayed inside the gym all summer because it was air-conditioned, but now that the temperatures outside have cooled down, it's the perfect time to head outdoors. Pull out your bike and grab your hiking gear. It's time to switch things up! In fact, the options are endless when it comes to enjoying Mother Nature and getting your sweat on, so be open to all sorts of activities.
Fall Into Healthy Habits
Slow down and enjoy the season ahead, but don't waste any time getting your body prepared for good health! Finish the last days of this year feeling happy, healthy, and strong. Your body will thank you for it in the end.
