3 Ways to End Your Fast Food Addiction

By Genevieve Cunningham

Fast food is so good … and so, so bad. Most fast food is riddled with fat, calories, and empty calories. It’s junk food, and yet most of us really love to swing through the drive-thru and grab something quick and easy. This habit can become addicting, and before long, eating fast food is just a way of life. If this is you, you’re probably already aware that it’s time to stop! If you’re having trouble ending your fast food addiction, take a look at these tips.

Plan Ahead

The more you plan ahead, the less need there is to run through a fast food place at the last minute. It’s when we’re unprepared that fast food becomes almost necessary. If you know you’re going to be gone all day, put something in the crock pot before you leave. Or pack a picnic and eat on the way home. If you’re willing to plan ahead, there are plenty of things that you can do to avoid fast food and keep yourself healthier.

Detox Your Body

Fast food is absolutely addictive. If you’re planning on giving it up, you’ll probably need a detox. While some people may take this to the extreme and use a juice cleanse or detox pills, you can probably get by with a simple diet of fruits and veggies. Limit your menu to these foods for a few days, and you’ll probably feel a lot better and a lot less craving for that unhealthy food.

Give Yourself Incentives

If you’re really having a hard time, give yourself some motivation. Allow yourself to go see a movie all alone if you make it a week or a month without any fast food. Buy a new pair of jeans. Get a new pair of shoes. Do whatever it takes to motivate yourself toward keeping fast food out of your life and your body healthier overall.

Fast food might taste good in the moment, but it’s not good for your health or appearance long-term. It’s fatty and greasy and low in nutrients. It's addictive and it's hard to give up, but doing so will be more than worth it. Use these tips to give up the fast food addiction, and watch your health improve faster than ever before.
