How to Lose Weight in the Fall

By Genevieve Cunningham

Anytime is the right time to lose weight. If you’re carrying around too many pounds, losing weight can help you feel better overall and improve the state of your current health. Of course, it’s definitely easier to lose at certain times of year. Some times of the year are incredibly difficult for losing weight. Why? Because of the weather and the food and the activity. And the fall is one of these times. Between the comfort foods, sweet treats, and big sweaters, it can be hard to find the motivation to lose weight. But it’s not impossible! If you’re ready to lose this season, take a look at these tips to help you find success.

Get Busy Cooking

It seems like everyone likes to cook in the fall. It’s all about the comfort food and sweets and treats. If you rely on everyone else to feed you in the fall, then losing weight is going to be really tough. Instead, now is a great time to break out the cookbook. Look for new, healthy recipes to bring to the table. This helps you stay in the midst of cooking season, but allows you to do so in a healthy way. Give this a try, and it may be all you need to drop a few pounds.

Get a Low-Impact Workout

It’s tempting to throw yourself into a high powered workout to lose weight. But the fall may not be the best time to do this. Why? Because the fall is busy, and if we don’t love our workout, we’re more likely to skip it this time of year. It’ll be chilly outside, and so we’ll take a pass. We’ll have plans the next day, and so we’ll blow it off. Instead, just stick to a low-impact workout. This allows you to get in some movement, but without the stress of high intensity exercise. Walking, yoga, swimming. Choose what you like and get busy.

Check Yourself Often

If you really want to lose weight in the fall, you’re going to need a measuring stick. It doesn’t have to be the scale, although it can be if you want to use it. Other great measuring tools include getting your measurements, checking the same pair of pants, or using a particular item of clothing to check your progress. It doesn’t matter what you use. Find what works for you, and stay on top of it for better success.

It can certainly be a challenge to lose weight at this time of year, but it’s not impossible. You’ll need focus and determination and these tips! With a few small steps in the right direction, you can lose the weight, change your health, and feel better than ever before the start of next season rolls around.
