Can't Sleep? Check Your Mattress!
By Donna Stark
Trying to navigate your day after a night of bad sleep can be overwhelming, frustrating, and downright tiring, so you can probably imagine how difficult life would be if you had to do that every day of the month, can't you? Sleep deficiency is one of the leading contributors to mood swings, poor productivity, brain fog, accidents, and significant health conditions. Because it's such a serious issue to deal with, the underlying source of the problem should be found as quickly as it can, and the best place to start looking is with your mattress.
Your Mattress May Be Stealing Your Sleep
Your mattress could be the sole reason for your sleep deprivation or it could be exacerbating some other underlying issue. Whatever the case may be, though, this problem needs to be addressed sooner than later! Here are some helpful tips on how to choose the perfect mattress from your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic.
- Buying a new mattress - It's fairly easy to determine when you need to invest in a new mattress. If your mattress is sagging, unsupportive, or over seven years old, it's a good time to hit the stores or to shop online.
- Determining your budget - One of the most important things to remember when shopping for a new mattress, is that you should consider it as an investment in your health. That doesn't mean you need to pick the most expensive one in the store, but don't automatically go for the cheapest option either.
- Asking for help - There are a lot of options to choose from, so if you aren't up to date on mattress lingo, ask for some guidance. The person who is helping you should know the difference between memory foam, latex, and spring mattresses. If they don't, shop somewhere else.
- Knowing your sleeping position - Before you even head out to the stores, though, try to determine the position you sleep in. Doing so will help you select the right firmness for your body. If you aren't sure how you sleep, ask someone to sneak into your room to check.
Improving Your Sleep With a New Mattress
Buying a new mattress is a big deal, so take as much time as you need to find the perfect one out there. Just don't take too long because there is too much to lose if you do! Your entire well-being is relying on you right now and your body is craving some quality sleep.
