How Good Organization Can Help Make You Healthier

By Genevieve Cunningham

Organization. For some people, staying organized is easy. Everything they do or own is organized in one way or another. Chaos makes them crazy. For other people, organization is incredibly difficult. They can't keep things in order no matter how hard they try. Everything in their lives is messy … their rooms, their bags, their minds. If you are among the unorganized, there's bad news. Constant chaos is bad for your health. If you've ever wanted to clean up your act and get organized, take a look at these reasons why doing so may change your life … and your health, too!

It Declutters the Mind (and Everything Else!)

An unorganized mind makes everything a little more difficult. It’s hard to keep track of what we’re doing and where we’re going. It’s hard to keep track of our goals. If we get organized, both literally in our homes and offices and figuratively in our bodies and minds, it’s easier to focus on workouts, diet plans, and long-term health goals. It can also help us continually move forward, which is a great way to stay motivated.

It Helps You Make Plans That Work

It’s so hard to make an actual plan when you’re unorganized. Organization allows us to come up with and then actually follow through with a plan. This includes plans for healthy eating, plans for body fitness, and plans for healthy habits. The more organized our lives, the easier it is to fit these plans into the mix, and that makes a much higher chance that we’ll find success.

It Lowers Stress

Chaos is stressful. And excessive stress is incredibly bad for our overall health. It raises blood pressure, leads to overeating, causes headaches, and causes a wealth of other negative side effects to our bodies. If you want to lower stress, get organized. Organization gives us more time, is less overwhelming, and can keep your stress levels at a manageable level. Increase your organization, lower your stress, and watch your health improve.

It can be hard to get organized if you’re not used to it. But it’s definitely worth it. Good organization skills can improve your overall health -- mentally, emotionally, and physically. Get some guidance or professional help, get your chaos under control, and enjoy the better health that comes with it.
