ACP Endorses Chiropractic for Lower Back Pain
By Sandy Schroeder
If you are facing lower back pain, you may be reaching for over-the-counter pain pills or prescription medications, but ACP, the American College of Physicians, advises taking the opposite approach.
Chiropractic, heat and massage were among the first choices for treating lower back pain that ACP selected in guidelines published online, February, 2017, in Annals of Internal Medicine.
After reviewing more than 150 different back pain studies, the physicians rejected pain medication for temporary back pain, endorsing therapies such as chiropractic, heat and massage instead. They also said any pain medication used should be limited to nonsteroidal anti-inflammation drugs (NSAIDs) or muscle relaxants, not opioids.

The Joint has helped lead the way, providing lower back pain relief treatment in place of opioid medications. The Spinal Connection
The spine houses the central nervous system, which controls most of the body’s functions. When brain-to-body communication works well, overall health often improves, too.
A gentle targeted adjustment to correct joint restrictions may give you far-reaching back pain relief and a pervasive sense of well-being. Individuals often enjoy more energy, better sleep, and fresh alertness.
Wellness is unique to the individual. As you assess your results, you may want to use weekly 15-minute adjustments to stay at your peak. As you gradually resume your normal routine, your chiropractor will monitor your progress, and suggest more positive ways to protect and strengthen your back.
Losing weight, reducing work hours, and lowering stress with gentle stretching exercises may all be useful.
Over the years, I have seen friends, co-workers and family members rely on chiropractic support to handle lower back pain, sore knees, stiff necks, and numerous other joint pain complaints. As they found relief, they brought their families in to enjoy the benefits, too. Their chiropractors became an ongoing resource to monitor their health and handle any new problems that came up.
If you would like to find out more about The Joint Chiropractic, stop by the clinic near you. You will find an array of affordable healthcare plans that require no insurance, and flexible weekend and evening hours with no appointments needed.
