Healthy Ways to Lose Weight
By Lexi Herrin
It seems like one of the battles that a lot of us have is the struggle to lose weight. Some people change their diet and exercise plan over and over hoping to lose weight. What they really need is a lifestyle change rather than a temporary fix to get the weight off. There are a lot of things that you can do to not only lose the weight, but also keep the weight off. Some of those include cutting out added sugar, eating on a schedule, staying hydrated, and counting your calories.
Cut Out Added Sugar
Sugar is one of those things that can be very hard to avoid but is also not really good for you. A lot of the sugar that we consume comes from fructose, which the liver converts into fat. We can't always avoid sugar completely but by simply avoiding added sugar, you can avoid gaining some of the weight that sugar causes you to gain.
Eat on a Schedule and Stay Hydrated
One thing that can greatly affect weight gain or weight loss is our schedule. When your body is on a schedule throughout the day it tends to function better. When you eat every few hours on a schedule, you are simply reminding your metabolism to burn fat. Another thing that can be very helpful is drinking water. Sometimes we mistake our thirst for hunger and instead of drinking the water that our body might be craving, we continue to eat until our "hunger" is satisfied. By drinking enough water and staying hydrated, your body won't feel the need to keep eating and you won't overeat. Overeating can lead to some serious weight gain, but monitoring what you eat or drink (and when) can really help you out when it comes to losing weight.
Count Your Calories
Another way to ensure that you aren't overeating is to count your calories. By counting your calories, you will be able to be aware of everything that you eat and can avoid overeating. You'll be able to see the nutritional value of everything you eat and evaluate your diet in order to cut out some of your unnecessary calories.
