Have a Little More Fun as You Exercise
By Tom Herrin
If you are tired of going through daily exercise routines that seem boring to you, you are not alone. Many people get into exercising only to become disillusioned with the activity. It is not so much that they don't want to get into shape. It is more about the monotony of doing the same thing day after day. Even though they may see some benefits, it may become drudgery that makes you discouraged. In order to change all of that, you may try to be more open and creative in your activities. They are all around. You just have to look for them.
Are You a Dancer?
Dancing can include all kinds of various activities. Depending on the type of music you enjoy, there is likely to be some kind of dance class that goes along with it. Square dancing is very popular in some places as there are clubs that support it. There is also ballroom dancing, ballet, and some that you have probably never even heard of. One thing for sure is you will get some pretty good exercise and be able to socialize with others at the same time. I enjoy dancing, on occasion, in my family room at home. We may dance for 15 or 20 minutes and feel that it is a decent workout.
Ride a Bicycle
I love riding a bicycle. It is a great low-impact activity for me that still allows me to improve my cardio and endurance. While running or jogging may cause me trouble with my feet or knees, at times, I never have this problem when I ride a bike. If you haven't done it in a while, you will get right back into it as soon as you get on, and bikes can be really affordable. It is another thing that you may be able to do with others, especially if you have kids or grandkids.
Try a Trampoline
When I was young, it seemed like jumping on a trampoline was a lot of fun. I never thought of it as exercise. With the individual trampolines available today, you can do it almost anywhere. They are easy to store and carry. Jumping on one can be pretty simple and allow you to be more creative with what you do. While you have to be careful, at first, you will find them to be pretty enjoyable.
