The scale has become the measure of good health in the minds of many people. But sometimes you work hard to improve your health and that number on the scale just won’t shift. You can’t rely on the numbers on the scale to be a gauge of how healthy you are. Here are a few signs you can use to know you’re actually making progress toward a healthier you.
You Try New Things
Increased energy is one of the best side effects of getting healthy. If you find yourself trying out new things, then that’s a great sign of an active lifestyle. You’re obviously ready for any challenge that comes your way and that says a lot about your fitness level!
You’ve Got Pep in Your Step
When you get fitter, things become easier for you to do. You don’t feel as weighed down by gravity as you may have before and your mood is probably better, too. If you find you are feeling more resilient, then that’s a great sign that your fitter!
Your Clothes Fit Differently
The number on the scale may not budge, but it’s important to remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Due to this, your weight may not change but your clothes will fit differently. Wear clothes that fit your changing body and it will help you feel better and look better too! Show off what you’ve worked so hard for.
Your Blood Tests Improve
You may find that your cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, and thyroid levels are all improving since you’ve become more dedicated to your health and fitness. Even if you hit a plateau in your progress, those tests can help you to understand you are making progress!
You Go the Extra Mile
When you can walk farther than you could before, even just one step, then you’re making progress. Having the energy to go a little bit farther than you did before when you’re exercising is a great sign that your fitness level is ramping up. Remember, a journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step!
Your Skin, Hair, and Nails Look Great
If you’ve noticed an improvement in your complexion, your hair, and your nails, then you need to know that your body is healthier. It’s getting the nutrients it needs to work well. It’s a great glimpse into what is going under the skin to help you get a picture of your overall health and wellness.
