Chiropractic Care and Auto Accidents
By Stephen R. Farris
You're finally off work, so it's time to jump into the car and head for home. As you're driving along in bumper to bumper traffic, you might be thinking about dinner plans, a date you may be going on later, picking up the kids from daycare or how you'll be spending a nice, quiet evening curled up with your favorite book or binge watching that television series available from your streaming service.
But before you reach your destination, out of nowhere an inattentive driver hits you full force from behind. Your body jolts forward, hopefully into the deployed airbags, as you attempt to hit the brakes. Luckily you're able to escape the whole incident without a scratch, but internally you may feel some soreness setting in. That's typical after car accidents.
But instead of getting checked out by paramedics, you tell them you're OK and find a way home. A day goes by, maybe several more, then that soreness you were feeling at the scene of the accident seems to persist. Your back pain has worsened and there's excruciating stiffness in your neck.
It could be the result of your spine being knocked out of alignment thus causing your back and neck pain. Or it could be something worse. You may end up going to the doctor, but usually they'll give you a prescription to help reduce the pain and the relief is only temporary.
The Chiropractic Solution
This would be an opportune time to seek help from your local chiropractor. They can examine you and diagnose what might be the cause of your back or neck pain. They can offer treatment options and for how long you may need them. Chiropractic treatment can also be used to help treat joint and muscle pain as well. They can even suggest exercises you can do in between treatment sessions to help you regain mobility and reduce the time away from work or your everyday activities.
Your chiropractor can also offer advice on your nutritional needs as well. Their overall goal is to get you headed towards a healthier, more active lifestyle.
The most important thing is to get checked out if you've been involved in any type of automobile accident as soon as possible. Your health could end up in jeopardy if you don't.
