3 Reasons Your Chiropractor Recommends Glamping

By Brandi Goodman

Camping is a common activity. You spend a couple of nights in a sleeping bag on the hard ground, and your days by the water or on the trails. Though this can be ideal for some people, it's harsh on the body for most. That's just one of the reasons your chiropractor recommends glamping instead.

What Is Glamping?

For those who don't know, glamping is where you camp in luxury. You won't be sleeping on the ground and "roughing it" as many people say. You'll get to enjoy nature and the overall benefits of camping while maintaining your comfort.

It's Better for Your Back

Camping can be hard on your back. That's why chiropractors tend to recommend glamping instead. You should be utilizing a cot or air mattress at the very least so your spine can get the support it needs. It's much more comfortable to sleep on a soft surface rather than the hard ground.

You also use a taller tent while glamping. This saves your back from having to crouch down to fit into a low-standing space. A tall, canvas tent that resembles a teepee is usually seen. You can forgo the tent altogether and just stay in a cabin as well. Many campgrounds offer rentals.

It Allows Your Natural Clock to Reset

Too many people have poor sleep patterns because their natural clocks are off. You might find yourself staying up late looking at your phone screen. This light can trick your body into thinking it's still daytime. When you go glamping, your circadian rhythm has the chance to reset. You're more likely to hit the hay once it's dark out and quiet hours are set. You'll then be likely to wake when the sun rises instead of sleeping in.

It Gives You the Opportunity for Physical Activity

Whether you're pitching a tent or just staying in a cabin, your accommodations won't be where you'll stay all day. Glamping may be more comfortable, but you're still there to enjoy nature. You have lots of opportunities for physical activity as you get outside and explore. Walk along some nearby trails. Use the pool for a swim or go down to the nearest body of water. Outdoor exercise is great for your mind and body and always recommended.

Glamping can be a great way to camp. It's not as harsh on your back and body and can leave you feeling much more satisfied. If you finish your glamping trip still feeling a bit out of whack, it may be best to see your chiropractor. Stop in at The Joint Chiropractic for an assessment during their available walk-in hours, Monday through Saturday.
