Chiropractic Guidance for the Winter Season

Winter will arrive before you know it. It may not get below freezing often in Texas. You don't typically have to deal with inches upon inches of snow. But that doesn't mean the winter season isn't something to worry about. With some chiropractic guidance, you can make the most of those cold days and help keep your body in the best condition possible.
Stretch Before Outdoor Activities
Whether you're scraping ice from your windshield, have a bit of snow to shovel, or plan on being outdoors, it's wise to stretch your body out well. Doing so can help warm up your joints so the cold air and low pressure doesn't hinder their performance so drastically.
It's best to wear layers in the winter. You never know when the temperatures may change. Start out with all layers necessary, from some thermal underwear, to your regular clothes, a coat, hats, scarves, and gloves. As time goes on and you begin to warm, you can start removing a few items until you're comfortable.
Have Winter Boots and Regular Shoes
Winter boots made with good traction are necessary when it's icy out. They'll help you remain on your feet. However, these may be a little hard to lug around on your feet all day long. Keep a pair of regular shoes at your workplace or in the car so you can change them out when you'll be indoors. A pair of tennis shoes is best when you're inside.
The summer heat makes it easy to get all your water in. During the winter, you may not find yourself drinking as much. Your body still needs to stay hydrated, though. It will keep your joints limber and ensure you're remaining healthy and well. Make sure you're drinking your daily eight glasses of water for optimal health.
Let the Heat Run in Your Vehicle
Don't just hop into your vehicle and take off to work. Let it run for a little while with the heat going. A car can typically warm up in just a few minutes with the hot air on high. It will make your drive much more comfortable so you aren't driving distractedly because of the cold.
