Avoid These Summer Pains With Chiropractic

By Rachel Carver

We are in the middle of summer. Summer gives us barbeques with friends, time at the pool, and vacations.

Because we are so busy this time of year, it is easy to overlook our overall health and wellness. However, doing so can lead to pain and other health issues. Read on for some common pains and how to avoid them.

First, Visit the Chiropractor

Summer makes us eager to jump into new projects or physical activities. Make sure your body is prepared for increased activity by prioritizing chiropractic care.

Before you hit the road or start your cycling program, head to The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you. You don't want restricted discs or joint pain to keep you from your activities. The Joint's affordable pricing and walk-in visits allow you to get the care you need on your terms.

Avoid Pain From Too Much Sitting

We all enjoy lazy summer days with food and good friends. This makes it easy to sit too much. Pay attention to how much food you consume. And prioritize summer walks or exploring a new hiking trail with friends to stay active. The Joint team will recommend the best movements for you based on your unique circumstances during your visit.

Prevent Yard Work Pain

Summer weather often means landscaping, tree trimming, and other outdoor home projects. Approach all of these with caution, especially if it has been awhile since you worked out. You don't want to over do it and spend the next few days icing your shoulder or dealing with lower back pain.

Remember to lift with your legs, use ergonomic tools, and stretch before you begin any yard work project. Be sure to mention your yard work plans to your chiropractic team for some advice on proper form.

Don't Have a Painful Vacation

Many of us plan summer vacations. Travel often involves long drives or flights. Too much sitting combined with carrying heavy luggage can leave you sore and stiff.

Plan for frequent stops during a road trip to stretch your body and move around. Use a long layover to walk around the airport or to do some standing while waiting for your next flight. And invest in some luggage with wheels to avoid lugging heavy bags through the airport.

Regular chiropractic care increases range of motion, improves flexibility, and reduces injuries. Combining regular chiropractic visits with at least 150 minutes of weekly aerobic physical activity will keep you healthy and pain-free as you enjoy the rest of your summer activities.
