Pick Some Healthy Colors for Meals

Having some of those same old foods day in and day out may not really ever seem to get old to some people. It can become so routine that they may never give it much thought. The fact is, if those meals are pretty plain with brown and white, they may not be the healthiest that the could be. For those interested in finding easy ways to make meals healthy, adding more color may do the trick. It seems that many foods of color each have something to offer that can help to supplement a diet in lots of ways.
Blue Have a Reputation to Maintain
At one time, blue or purple foods were pretty rare on many plates. In more recent times, they have become quite popular. Much of this may be due to the fact that they are so high in antioxidants. This seems to make them a sort of silver bullet. A few other things they are believed to do are support longevity, fight inflammation, and boost memory. Some of these foods go well at breakfast while others may be good in other meals or snacks. Some of the foods included in this group are blueberries, eggplants, purple cabbage, plums, and figs.
Red Foods Are Attractive and Healthy
Adding red to meals can accomplish a couple of things. One is that they look really appealing on a plate. Another is that they have a lot to offer in the way of health. Some of them are believed to discourage prostate and esophageal cancers, reduce the risk of diabetes, and decrease risks of heart disease. These foods come in a wide variety of foods that may enhance flavor. Some of these are beets, red onions, strawberries, cherries, and cranberries. They are popular with salads or desserts.
Turn Your Imagination Loose
You may be able to create any kind of work of art you choose when adding colors to meals. We like to pick colors and try to find foods to fit it. It can become a kind of contest that everyone can participate in. It can be one in which the kids can participate. They may enjoy taking a turn and seeing their picks become part of the family meals. It may be a good way of encouraging them to be willing to try some new foods since it will be some of their own choosing.
