Neighbor-Friendly Workouts
By Donna Stark
Feeling a bit uncomfortable with the thought of going back to the gym? You're not alone! Many people are choosing to give themselves more time and are adjusting their workouts so they can be done at home. But what if you are living in an apartment or a townhouse that is connected to another? Working out is important, but so is the relationship you have with your neighbors, right? And you certainly don't want them leaving nasty notes on your door asking you to please stop dropping your weights on your floor (or their ceiling). So, here are a few ideas on what you can do to stay fit while also respecting the neighbors around you.
Yoga
Yoga is an incredible all-over body workout but what makes it ideal for home is that it requires very little equipment. The only things you really need are some comfortable clothing and a mat. Yoga helps to reduce stress, tone and strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and increase balance and stability. Good for all ages and physical ability, yoga is perfect for the entire family.
Stationary Bike
Sure, it may not be as fun as riding outdoors, but it's a lot better than trying to carry your bike up three flights of stairs every time you want to exercise! A stationary bike can be one of the best investments you make. By offering the same health benefits as an outdoor bike and eliminating the need to schedule your workouts around the weather, it couldn't get any better! And with all the different models and prices available, the perfect one for you won't be hard to find at all.
Walking
Walking is always an easy and obvious choice that offers an endless stream of benefits, but so many people tend to forget about it. By taking a moderately-paced walk every day, you will improve both your physical and mental health significantly. And if you want to make your walks more challenging, add in those flights of stairs at your complex or throw in some extra lunges. Your body will thank you for it!
Stability Ball
Did you know that you can improve the function of your muscles while watching TV or playing your video games? Skip the couch and pull out a stability ball! Stability balls can help you burn calories, tone muscles, and improve balance. You won't even realize how hard your body is working because you are having so much fun doing those other things while on it. But don't just save it for those times alone. Incorporating stability balls into your exercise routine as well is a great way to maximize your workouts!
Effective At-Home Workouts
Don't give up on your workouts. You can still exercise, keep your neighbors happy, and improve your overall health and wellness in the process with just a few simple changes. Good luck!
