When Should You See a Chiropractor for Back Pain?
By Sara Butler
Some people make it into the chiropractor regularly for adjustments to help keep their spine healthy. Others it may take a little more to get them in for an adjustment, such as for back pain. If you're in the latter category, then how do you know it's time to come into The Joint Chiropractic for a consultation? Here are some sure signs that it's time to stop denying the pain you're in and get into the chiropractor so you can start down the road to recovery.
Home Treatments Haven't Worked
Sometimes when people feel a twinge or some pain, they choose to do what they can for it at home before moving on to other treatments. Certainly, sometimes all you need is some ice or heat therapy and stretching to set things right. But if you're trying other therapies without success, then it's definitely time to get into The Joint for an evaluation.
You Think You May Have a Pinched Nerve
Your spine is an amazing structure, but it has many things packed into a very small space. If just one problem pops up somewhere it can put pressure on the nerve roots that exit from the spinal canal to innervate your body. When that happens, you can experience severe pain that can radiate to other places on your body.
Nerve pain is normally quite intense, sharp pain. It can get worse with movement and you may also experience numbness or a burning feeling in one of your limbs if a nerve is pinched. Chiropractic treatment is a great way to assess what may be going on and address it, so get to the chiropractor if you feel as if this may be something you're suffering from.
It's Not a Soft Tissue Injury
Most people experience soft tissue injuries throughout their lives. You can experience a sprained joint or pulled muscle that causes discomfort and pain that eventually gets better and goes away. But sometimes the pain you experience and think may be caused by soft tissue injuries is really not from soft tissue at all and may be a much larger problem.
If you have a joint dysfunction that is causing issues for you, then the chiropractor at The Joint can identify it and work to improve it so you can have normal function back once more.
Back pain should never be ignored. Come to The Joint Chiropractic if you're experiencing back pain.
