Problems Caused By Joint Issues

By Paul Rothbart

Your body has many joints. Any place where two or more bones meet will form a joint. They are pretty important body parts considering that you couldn't move without them. That would make life a little too challenging. Like any other moving part, joints can develop issues that can be problematic. A joint can become subluxated, which is a medical term meaning that it is restricted or "misaligned." A joint can also become tight through overuse or even too little use. Knowing what these problems are and what they may be symptomatic of is the first step to seeking treatment.

Limited Range of Motion

A common symptom of a joint problem is when its range of motion becomes limited. Depending on which joint is experiencing the issues, certain activities may become difficult. You find that you walk with a limp and running or jumping may become difficult or impossible. Upper body joint issues can make it hard to raise your arm above your head. Lifting or throwing may be limited. Along with any of these symptoms, there may be pain, and it could be severe in some cases.

Back Pain

When the joints are not functioning optimally, it can place extra strain on the back. This kind of overwork may cause a subluxation in the spine or compress a disc. This can lead to considerable pain and continue to exacerbate the situation as more and more strain is placed on the back.

Headaches

Any kind of pain or tension that involves the spine can cause headaches. Pressure may be placed on the spinal cord causing migraines or tension headaches. The stress of limited mobility can also be a contributing factor.

Tightness in the Muscles

When you have an injury, the body will attempt to heal by increasing blood flow to the area and inflaming it. Swelling can cause the muscles to tighten up. This will limit the range of motion further. Until the problem with the joint is fixed, this cycle will recur. Stiffness, lack of mobility, and pain will continue, placing stress on the body and mind.

Chiropractic to the Rescue

For joint problems, a chiropractor can be an excellent option. You will be examined and if you have a subluxation or any other joint problem, the chiropractor can find it and adjust it. Once restored, your range of motion can return to normal, relieving pain and all of the other problems associated with joint issues. Regular visits may prevent it from happening again.

Problems with your joints can cause painful and distressing symptoms. Consider a visit to The Joint Chiropractic. You don't need an appointment. You may find that chiropractic care fixes the problem and reduces the risk of recurrence.
