Take Your Chiropractor's Advice for Neck Pain
By Brandi Goodman
Back pain is a pretty common complaints. However, neck pain is a very serious problem many people face as well. All the time spent sitting in poor posture, letting tension take over, and looking down at phones can quickly lead to a kink in the neck that won't seem to go away. Some chiropractic advice can help ensure you prevent this pain from occurring so you can avoid the associated discomfort.
Do Some Simple Neck Stretches
Sometimes all it takes is a few stretches to ease the tension felt in the neck and shoulders. Lower your chin toward your chest and hold this position for a few seconds. Raise your chin toward the ceiling for the next step and also hold for a few seconds. Repeating this a few times can alleviate some of the pain felt. Tilting the head to one side and then the other may also help.
Get a Chiropractic Pillow
The way you sleep can have a huge impact on your neck and spine. The wrong pillow can prove dangerous for your neck. Getting a chiropractic pillow may be best. It offers more cushion and support for your head and neck and will allow your spine to remain straight as you sleep. Having your head raised up on multiple pillows is not ideal and using one that is too flat can also hurt.
Keep Your Head Up as You Use Devices
Looking down at devices, such as phones and tablets, can cause tech neck. It causes far too much strain that leads to severe pain the more you allow it to happen. When using devices, always be sure to keep your head up and remain facing forward. The device should be at eye level.
Eliminate Stress
Because stress can lead to neck and shoulder tension, you need to find ways to eliminate it. Spending more time having fun and laughing with friends is a great start. Go after work or when you're having a particularly bad day to take your mind off things and keep tension from taking over your body. Exercise is another great method.
