3 Tips To Get Started Towards Weight Loss
By Stephen R. Farris
The struggle is real when it comes to getting into shape, especially in the area of losing weight. Most people try fad diets because they advertise quick weight loss, but they simply don't work. Sure, you'll drop some pounds quickly, and maybe notice your waistline shrink a little, but down the road you'll eventually put that weight back on and probably a few extra pounds.
The best solution for weight loss (tried and true) is to cut out high-processed foods, sugary drinks, and eat more fresh fruits, raw vegetables, and leaner cuts of meats - poultry, fish, and small amounts of beef and pork.
Exercise is another way to lose weight and get into shape. But it doesn't happen overnight. I had a football coach tell me one time, "that weight you gained didn't get there overnight, and you won't get rid of it overnight either." Simply put, you've got to put in the time in order to be successful in your fitness goals.
This means you may have to make a few minor changes in your daily lifestyle. Nothing drastic, just a few changes in your diet and how you work out. To help you get started, here's a few tips that could help you get on your way to a healthier you.
Use HIIT
HIIT stands for high-intensity interval training. What it consists of is the combination of using intense burst movements, with short recovery periods in order to keep your heart rate elevated. According to studies, using HIIT can help you decrease belly fat, increase weight loss, and burn more calories, which can also aid in losing weight.
Take Time for Breakfast
In today's society, we tend not to take time to eat a good, healthy breakfast. Either we skip it all together, or we rush off for work and grab something at our favorite fast-food chain. Starting off the day with a healthy breakfast can provide you with energy throughout the morning, and keep you from hitting the vending machine during your mid-morning break. Plus, eating meals on a set schedule can help keep you from binge eating, and/or snacking off and on throughout the day.
Ease Up on the Sugar
Easing up on the sugar can help you lose weight, reduce your chances of developing diabetes, and lower your risk of heart disease. Cut down -- or cut completely -- on processed foods, which may contain hidden sugars, sugary drinks such as sodas, and fruit juice drinks. Instead, drink more water. It's better for you.
If you're serious about losing weight and getting into shape, talk with your doctor and/or chiropractor to hear some of the tips and suggestions they have to offer, and to see if you're healthy enough to begin.
