Garlic May Boost Your Health

By Tom Herrin

If you are one of those individuals who has enough concern about your health to actually do something about it, then you may be more open to some different kinds of things to make your life better. We should all be constantly aware of what we consume and how it may affect us. It may be worth finding out more about adding the right spices to the food we consume. For many years, some people have been using various spices to enhance not only the flavor of their food but also some of the things that may be gained from it in terms of health.

Garlic Is a Popular Spice

One of the more widely used spices may be garlic. When they hear garlic mentioned, the first thing many think of is pasta, or maybe some kind of soup dish. The other thing that often turns people off of garlic is the odor, but if you are using it just for health benefits, odorless supplements are available. My family enjoys using a little garlic in some dishes. As for actual health perks, garlic has shown to have some positive effects on blood pressure, cholesterol, and other heart-related concerns. It also is believed to have some ability to help fight some diseases.

Peppermint Is More Than a Treat

Many of us have probably used peppermint to help ease indigestion. It is often served with meals. It has a good track record for helping to help stomach problems. It has even shown promise in relieving the pain of irritable bowel syndrome. As you may know, peppermint not only has some good oral properties but can be used as aromatherapy. The scent is soothing, and I enjoy having it around. We also drink peppermint tea to help us relax or relieve sore throat discomfort.

Cayenne Is More Than It Seems

I enjoy using a little bit of cayenne on some of my foods. Apparently, it can do a lot more. It may help to increase metabolism and reduce hunger. It also is used to relieve some pain. I recently tried taking it because of ongoing problems with my knees. I was wearing a brace every day on my left knee, and then I began having to do the same on my right. Within two weeks of starting to take it a few times per week, I no longer had to wear a brace. My inflammation was gone, and there was no pain. I don't know about others, but it worked well for me.
