A Smiling Face May Represent Improving Health
By Tom Herrin
Reading faces is something that comes pretty natural to most people. Even if they don’t realize it, they tend to make a lot of judgements based on facial expression. Whether it is walking into a retail establishment or an office where they are dealing with a receptionist, a visitor may base their experience on that initial contact. In longer term relationships, students who have teachers who smile more are far more likely to be successful. A smile can do all of these things and more. It can go as far as having a positive impact on health.
It Can Help in a Workplace
People who smile may make a great contribution to their surroundings in their jobs. A person who smiles as they go about their activities may find that the task is more pleasant when they do so. Not only does it help the time to pass with less of a mundane feel, it can actually allow the person to obtain a greater degree of enjoyment in the given job. Those who smile more are thought to be more creative. This can be helpful in the many jobs that require an innovative perspective for completion of a task.
It Can Improve Appearance
There is little doubt that a smile can make a face seem to be more appealing and pleasant. As already stated, teachers who smile tend to be perceived as more open to their students. This may be due to the same effect that a smile has on many people. Half of the time, they return a smile when they see one. It also creates a greater atmosphere of trust. Many see smiling as a way of expressing empathy. It is believed to make the one who smiles as appearing as much as three years younger.
It Is a Simple Way of Improving Health
Smiling can help to slow the heart rate. This is known as a means of lessening the work of the heart and enabling it to have more rest. If you smile more, you can reduce stress which can be so damaging to our bodies. It can help to release endorphins that can kill pain and act as a natural form of pain relief. It can boost our immune systems by relaxing the body, allowing it to react more effectively to outside factors that may cause illness. If you want a good, cheap way of improving your health and social climate, put a smile on your face.
