Playing Games for Everyone Can Improve Health

By Tom Herrin

It is pretty serious to become committed to a program of regular exercise.  Many people think about it, only to find plenty of reasons to put it off. Time and circumstances are two of the biggest excuses given.  When they can make it a little more fun, people are far more likely to try. For those with children, or other family members, finding something that everyone can do may be the best way to gather enthusiasm.  Disc golf is a game that people of all ages can play. Size and speed are not factors, but everyone who plays can get something out of it.

It Can Help Build Confidence

Everyone needs to have a feeling of achievement.  Disc golf is a game that is fairly easy to succeed in.  For those who want to gain greater skills, practice can allow them to that.  As people practice, they can improve. Greater confidence can always serve a good purpose.  When people gain it, they will be more willing to try new things and have a better sense of personal value.

It Can Be a Pathway to Better Exercise

The simple fact is that playing a round of disc golf can provide some walking.  Someone playing a round can easily walk a mile. With the varied shapes of a course, they may be walking up and down hills at the same time.  It has been said that they may easily burn 400-600 calories while participating in a round. Some people even choose to jog or run as they play. There may be many other ways of modifying the game as desired.

It May Improve Problem-Solving Skills

When you have to factor in the wind, you will have to make some assumptions about its effect.  You would also have to avoid other objects such as trees. Developing and using the skills required for playing disc golf can mean that mental functions will be tested.  Any time you can sharpen mental abilities, you may be able to help deter problems such as dementia. Combining mental and physical exercise can be another way of building better overall health.  In the case of playing disc golf, you can encourage each family member to do so. Having fun while improving health is always a good way to go.
