Jumping Rope May Lift Your Health
By Tom Herrin
Many people struggle with meeting their need to get regular exercise. It can be difficult to stay focused if you are one of those who just can't get into spending much time with standard exercise routines. There is a brighter side of this as many other activities may be able to produce the same results -- maybe even better results. Participating in something that is a little higher on the interest scale can be more motivating for many of us. All of these don't have to fit into the same kind of mold either. Thinking outside the box may pay big dividends for health.
Jump Rope
You may think jumping rope is just for kids. It is true that many school-age children jump rope. As a matter of fact, there are several programs that encourage them to jump rope to reach various goals, as well as to raise money. Jumping rope is easy and can help with endurance and timing. We have often seen people jumping rope when they are in training for some activity. Boxers are a prime example. You can jump rope as you jog, watch television, or listen to music. You can take a rope with you and do it anywhere.
Play Golf or Tennis
If you enjoy a social game that is not too aggressive in nature, you may like to do that for exercise. Many people play golf several times per week for exercise. Especially if you choose to walk the course, it can be good. If you are a tennis player, you may be able to play at whatever level you desire to ramp up your exercise and develop fitness. You can play a slow game to suit you, or you can get pretty aggressive if you want a higher degree of activity.
Try Rock Climbing
When you hear of an activity such as rock climbing, you may confuse it with mountain climbing. Even though some of the same skills may be used, rock climbing is much tamer. There are many parks and natural areas that have places designated for climbing. They often offer classes and/or equipment rentals. It is an activity that will require your entire body to be working but it is not all that strenuous. Once you get the hang of it, you may find yourself looking for more places.
