Stress creeps in quickly as soon as the holiday season begins. With Christmas cookies to decorate, presents to buy, a feast to plan, and plenty of other activities on the to-do list, many people have a more stressful holiday than a happy one. To avoid being as stressed this holiday season, people should start doing less and worrying more about simply spending time with loved ones.

Pre-Order the Christmas Meal

Rather than spending hours and even days making a Christmas meal for the entire family to enjoy, people can pre-order from a restaurant or catering service. Some may provide an entire feast the day of or a day or two in advance that the host can simply heat up and serve.

If there aren’t any services in the area that deliver around Christmas, another option is to try going out to eat at a restaurant instead. Several places remain open over the holidays, although you may end up enjoying a non-traditional meal, such as Chinese cuisine rather than the typical ham, potatoes, and stuffing. Either way, it will save time and hassle and produce a more stress-free meal time.

Purchase Gift Cards

Instead of searching the store shelves for the perfect Christmas gift for each person on the list, gift cards to some common stores is a quicker solution. Too many people focus on finding the right gifts, leaving them stressed and upset when they can’t find what they’re hoping to get. Gift cards allow the giftee to go and buy whatever they like so they end up with something they enjoy rather than a guess from the gift giver.

Get a Pre-Decorated Tree

Decorating the Christmas tree is another stressful addition to the holiday season. Untangling the lights from last year, adding bulbs and other items to all the right places, and trying to place the topper at the end can all take a considerable amount of time and effort. To avoid this, people can purchase pre-decorated trees from the store. They already come equipped with everything needed to make the tree look festive and fun during the holidays.

Stress can set in fast. Avoid this by doing less over the holidays and forgetting about the typical must-do list everyone talks about. Spending quality time with family is good enough without all of the extra stuff that often goes with it. Have a stress-free holiday that you get to enjoy more than any other time.
