Keeping Sane While You're Stuck at Home

Being stuck at home for days or weeks on end can make you go stir crazy. You may feel like you need to get out and will lose your mind if you have to stay inside. It can take a significant toll on your mental health. It's important to find ways to keep sane while you're stuck at home so you can remain as calm and collected as possible.

Focus on Projects

Find a project to focus your time on. Consider tasks you've been putting off and now have the time to do since you're stuck at home. It will help to give you focus and keep you busy. You will feel a sense of accomplishment each step of the way. Perform a spring clean. Build that book shelf you've been wanting. Deep clean your carpets. Make a birdhouse. 

Watch the Latest Craze

During times when you don't have the energy to work on a project, watch the latest craze instead. It can help to focus your mind on someone else's life rather than what's going on in your own. If you're on social media, you may have been seeing lots of tiger memes lately. Watch Tiger King on Netflix if you really want to get out of your head and into the lives of some of the kookiest cat owners you've ever come across. Shows such as Locke & Key on Netflix and Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu are also possibilities. Check your streaming services for what's popular this week.

Create a Happy Space

Being in the same house doing the same things each day can feel like a bore. Create a happy space for yourself that's all your own. It gives you a place to get away from everything and really focus on the things you love most. Put a picture of your family or friends, have some art supplies so you can draw or paint, pens and a notebook to write in, or other craft supplies. Put up pictures of places you love, such as a scene of a beach or the mountains. Include inspirational quotes. A space like this can help to center your mind and help to calm you.

Keeping sane while you're stuck at home can be tricky. It's easy to get bored and go a little stir crazy when you're stuck inside all day. Creating a happy space, focusing on a project, or watching the latest television craze are just a few ways to help beat the boredom.
