Better Your Health While Spending Less

By Brandi Goodman

Being healthy doesn't have to be expensive. Yes, you're going to find that organic foods cost more than non-organic. Fruits and vegetables tend to have a higher price than chips and other processed items in bags and boxes. You can still find ways to save and better your health while spending less. It's just a matter of budgeting and planning.

Meal Plan

Planning out your meals can be a great way to save money. With everything planned out and ready to go for the week you won't be tempted to stop at a fast food place on your way home or grab something from the vending machine or available food cart at lunch. You should purchase everything you need for the week in one shopping trip and make up your meals. Getting everything done at once helps to save time as well.

Create a Home Gym

You may spend a large amount in the beginning to get all the equipment you need, but having a home gym can save you lots in the long run. You won't have to pay a monthly fee for a local gym. You'll also get to use it anytime you want without having to worry about open hours.

Bring a Water Bottle With You Everywhere

A plastic bottle of water you can purchase from a store, gas station, or even the gym can cost a couple of bucks. Avoid this cost when you're out by bringing your own water bottle with you everywhere you go. You can fill it up with water from a drinking fountain or even the bathroom sink. Just be sure you have a filtered water bottle so it eliminates any toxic substances that can come through.

Shop Sales

Don't go to any store and buy whatever you see. Look at the store's ad online or ask if they have a physical copy so you can keep track of what sales are going on as you shop. It will help you to save money if you only buy the items that week that have a lower price. You'll still have to spend full price on some of your essentials, but you can keep the costs down somewhat by looking at ad prices. There's usually good deals for buying meat in bulk, for example.

You can better your health while spending less. You just have to be diligent about what you're spending and learn to shop sales, meal plan, and work out at home. There's lots of ways to save while still eating healthy and working on improvement.
