"Stop!" Says the Chiropractor
By Brandi Goodman
A lot of unhealthy habits are being utilized by people all over. Sitting for hours, looking down at devices all day, and drinking far too many sugary beverages are just a few of these unhealthy habits the chiropractor wants you to stop. They drastically harm your health and need to be eliminated from your daily routine.
Stop Sitting for So Long
Sitting for long hours can lead to weight gain, stress on the spine, and stiff joints. Chiropractors suggest taking regular breaks to get up, stretch, and get the blood flowing again. It's fine to take a day off and relax. You just need to be sure you're getting enough movement every so often so the relaxation doesn't lead to a too-relaxed body that can't handle much activity.
Stop Looking Down at Your Device All Day
Looking down at a phone or tablet puts a lot of pressure on your neck. The weight of your head is holding it down, tugging at your shoulders. This will lead to significant pain quickly. If you find yourself in this position often, it's time to look up again. Find ways to look forward at your device instead of down so you don't suffer from severe tension.
Stop Drinking Sugary Beverages
Sugary beverages, such as soda pop, juice, and iced coffee concoctions, should not be the norm. These drinks may perk you up for a short time, but they will have you crashing soon. You're more likely to feel bloated and fatigued when you have these drinks on the regular. Your body needs water to thrive -- and only water.
Stop Twisting and Reaching for Faraway Items
Too many people twist and extend their reach far beyond what they're capable of. It's easy to pull a muscle or hurt yourself when you're trying to grab something that's out of your reach. You shouldn't be doing these movements. They can lead to some serious pain and problems. Make sure you're getting closer to the item you're attempting to grab, and using tools to help yourself get them down safely.
So many unhealthy habits are leading to serious causes for concern for chiropractors. People need to engage in healthy behaviors and habits that better their well-being. Anything that leads to chronic pain and regular tension should be avoided. Stop in at The Joint Chiropractic to have an assessment and learn other ways to save your spine and joints.
