Be a Winner and Change Your Vacation Philosophy
By Brandi Goodman
Lots of people use their vacation time to get away from it all. You may find yourself more apt to sit, relax, and lay back while you're gone. Though this can be beneficial in its own right, there are far more advantageous ways to spend your time. Be a winner and change your vacation philosophy for a more health-conscious trip that really helps you reset.
Explore the City on Foot
Instead of taking a car to see the nearest sights, explore the city on foot. You'll get to know the town better if you're walking to various locations and having to find your way around. It will also give you lots of time for exercise. Walking burns calories, helps you maintain weight, and works out your lower body, core, and back.
Indulge in Healthy Meals and Beverages
It's easy to overeat and engage in unhealthy eating habits when you're on vacation. You might use the vacation as an excuse for getting to indulge in the desserts and drinks you may not otherwise enjoy. However, you don't want to go home feeling sick because you ate or drank too much -- especially if it's something your body isn't used to having. Indulge in healthy meals and beverages instead. Choose grilled chicken, fish, salad, fresh fruits and veggies, and infused water from the menu.
Maintain Your Sleep Schedule
You may want to stay up later and sleep in while you're away. Allowing yourself to get away from your regular sleeping habits is actually a bad idea. It may seem fine at first, but upon returning home you'll quickly realize the mistake you made. Make sure to maintain your sleep schedule and still get the shut-eye you need even while on vacation. You'll feel far more well-rested and better able to get back into the swing of things once you're back to the real world.
Skip the Screen Time
Part of your vacation plans should include skipping the screen time. Don't take the time now to catch up on shows you've missed or read through old emails. You should take this time away to forget about screens and technology and actually get out and enjoy yourself. See the sights. Visit the local hotspots. Spend time with your family or friends. Enjoy the moment and fill your vacation days with fun activities rather than staying stuck inside on a screen.
Your vacation philosophy should involve plenty of exercise and healthy meals. Don't let your trip be a time to harm your health. You can still enjoy your time away while engaging in healthy habits that keep your body and mind looking and feeling good.
