Simplify a Diet With Leafy Greens

By Tom Herrin

All things that people do to enhance a diet are not really that involved.  While there are all kinds of things that may be done to make it better, that all depends on individual needs.  When one person needs an infusion of one type of food, another person may need something entirely different.  There are some who require more meat due to some kind of deficiency while others may seem very much the opposite.  One-size-fits-all does not work anymore for health than it does for shoes.  When searching for a food to give a little different kind of boost, leafy greens may be a good option.  They have a lot to offer.

They May Help Maintain the Skin

People spend a good bit of money and time trying to keep their skin looking and feeling young.  After all, who doesn't want that soft, smooth look?  There are certainly some good products out there, but diet may make a solid contribution to the skin as well.  Leafy greens contain some great nutrients for the skin.  Many of them also have a high water content which can help to add moisture in the skin.  This can help prevent wrinkles.

They May Improve Energy

Feeling tired is not always a sign of too much work or old age.  It may be a symptom of other issues.  One of those is insufficient iron.  Years ago, several types of supplements were marked as a treatment for what was referred to as iron-poor blood.  This simply meant that there was not enough iron in the blood to carry an adequate amount of oxygen, and that is the primary role of iron.  It can increase the red blood cells.  They attach to oxygen and carry it throughout the body.  More iron means more energy.  It is a simple formula.

They May Help Make a Good Diet

I particularly enjoy leafy greens.  I really enjoy them in a salad.  It makes a light meal that can, in some cases, be part of a meal that helps me to feel capable of getting out and being active.  They are a favorite of mine in warm weather.  In the cooler temps, I enjoy these greens cooked.  I have always liked mustard greens, but there are several other kinds that can be good as well.  Leafy greens may be a good thing to introduce to children early so that they can develop a taste for these early.
