Do You Like Trying New Healthy Drinks?

By Tom Herrin

Even the most dedicated among us, to the effort to eat and drink healthy, can get a little burned out from time to time.  We make every effort to exercise and get the right amount of sleep, but we may occasionally hit a brick wall when it comes to finding some kind of drink that has some flavor without too much of everything we try to avoid.  We are well aware of the importance of water, but we just may want to have a small amount of variety.  It is not unreasonable, and it may be more easily accomplished than we realize.  These drinks don't have to be too expensive either.

Some Old Standards Are Still Good

When many of us were children, we likely drank things made from juices.  They were mostly fresh and had few things added to them.  Fruit juices may have lots of fiber as well as plenty of vitamins and minerals.  They may be great alone or in combination with other flavors.  Since they are all natural, they have natural sugars with no need to add any other sugar.  Drinking them may be a good option.

A Few Juices Have Particular Benefits

One of the simplest juice drinks is lemon.  While many of us have probably had fresh made lemonade, we may not have realized just how many benefits it may have.  As far as healthy drinks containing juices, simple water with lemon in it has long been considered a good drink.  For some, lemon may help to act as a natural diuretic.  It seems to sort of purify the body.  Lemon has a fair amount of vitamin C.  It also is pretty well-known as a drink that can do a good job of quenching thirst.

Other Flavors Added to Water Are Popular

Water with flavors added can be light and refreshing.  They may be a good alternative to many less healthy drinks.  Many restaurants offer a large variety of flavors that may be added.  Lots of these are fruit flavors, but some are other kinds.  Chocolate or vanilla are common add-ins.  While my personal favorite is water with lime and strawberry, I have also added other flavors and been pleased with the result.  It is kind of fun to see what you can create.  A good thing is that you can play with this at home.
