The Diet and Exercise You Need for Spring
By Brandi Goodman
If you've been indulging on comfort foods and desserts all winter long, now is the time to start a better eating routine. Spring is just around the corner. A diet and exercise plan that fits the season will help you make the most of your springtime and ensure good health for this warmer period that many people spend enjoying.
A Spring Clean for Your Body
Just as you perform a spring clean for your home, you should do the same for your body. Your body needs to be cleansed of all the toxic foods and junk you've been consuming lately. If you want to feel lighter for the spring season, then a diet mainly consisting of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats is in order. Find the produce that's in season and create some healthy dishes for every meal.
You can start your day with some Greek yogurt and berries. You'll get plenty of protein and vitamins from this meal. Add a piece of whole-grain toast if you need something more. A chicken salad with spinach and vegetables makes a filling lunch. Try roasted turkey breast, a sweet potato, and pear slices for dinner. When you feel hungry at snack time, some nuts are a good solution.
Outdoor Exercise
You may have gone to a gym on occasion or tried some home workouts indoors during the winter. Perhaps you didn't exercise at all. Whatever the case may be, exercise is necessary during the spring season. You're bound to get outside more often, performing yard work or engaging in activities you enjoy. If you haven't had much exercise over the last few months, you'll be pretty rusty. Start an outdoor exercise routine that gets you in the sunshine and warm air. It will help you to gain the most benefits during your workout.
The activities you enjoy and the yard work you must complete can all act as a workout as well. Be sure to stretch out well beforehand so you don't pull a muscle or experience an aching joint. Building your strength and stamina now will help keep you going throughout the spring, summer, and fall months to come.
A spring season diet and exercise plan can help get your body looking and feeling great for the warm weather. You're bound to be outside more often enjoying the sunshine if you've been cooped up due to cold weather throughout the winter. Eat right and exercise well so you can enjoy the spring weather without needing to huff and puff in the process.
