Variety Can Easily Be Found in Healthy Drinks
By Tom Herrin
No matter how hard we try otherwise, any of us can get a little flat with our choices. This can apply to anything, but it seems as if the harder we try to be healthy, the bigger the rut we get ourselves into. This may be with an exercise routine or food. It may even be with drinks. There have been times when I knew I needed something different but simply couldn't think of the right thing to hit the spot. It was likely a matter of failing to think outside the box. There is a whole world out there with all kinds of drinks we probably have never tried, or even considered.
Dust Off the Old Fruit Trees
When I was young, I remember eating pomegranate. It was one of those fruits that we enjoyed but couldn't always find the right way to eat. I actually had never thought of drinking the juice. Obviously someone did because it is a pretty good drink. Besides tasting good, it has some good properties. According to one study, it may help prevent memory loss. Another one found that it may improve cholesterol and lower blood pressure. As with so many fruit juices, it is also high in fiber.
You Won't Go Wrong With Lemon Water
One of the oldest standards in healthy drinks is lemon water. At one time, if you ordered a meal at a restaurant, you were going to be served water with a slice of lemon. As a kid, we may have gone ahead and added sugar to make a weak lemonade. Lemon water is pretty healthy. It can satisfy thirst as well as have a little more flavor than plain water. Drinking it as a beverage can help to make sure you have some good Vitamin C and help your immune system.
You May Add Almost Any Flavor to Water
Making your own drink by adding some kind of flavor to water is easy. Many restaurants offer a big selection of flavors that may be added. They may range from chocolate and vanilla to cherry, lime, strawberry, coconut, grape, and so on and on. If you feel a little adventurous, you can try some different combinations to see just what you can make. Give it a try and have fun with it. You may come up with some flavor that is out of this world.
