Don't Use These Excuses to Miss Your Walk!
By Sara Butler
Walking is one of the best forms of exercise you can do. It helps you to stay healthy and maintain a healthy weight while being kind to your joints as a low impact activity. But sometimes, getting in your daily walk doesn't feel that easy. Everyone has found excuses to get out of it. Here are a few of the most common excuses people use to forego their walking workouts. Ignore them if they pop into your head!
Not Enough Time
Sure, life is busy. Between work and family commitments, it may seem as if you don't have time to do much else. But when it comes to your walking workout, you have time.
Think about it this way: You must walk to get where you're going. So, even if you don't have time to take a walk around your neighborhood after dinner, you do have time to amp up the walking you do throughout the day in order to benefit from it.
Lack of time is one of the most common excuses people give to avoid exercise, but it's easily overcome by simply incorporating fitness into the movements you're making anyway! Start making the time to be active and you'll stick with it.
It's Dull
Not every walking workout can be done at the Grand Canyon. But even if your neighborhood or office park isn't that exciting, it doesn't have to be as dull as you fear. Instead, embrace what's around you no matter what it is. Queue up your favorite playlist and walk to some invigorating tunes -- whatever you need to do to make it interesting will help you to stick with it.
You Don't Have a Treadmill
You don't need to use a treadmill in order to get your steps in. Sure, they have their advantages such as a temperature-controlled environment and the ability to control the incline but getting outside is good for your health. In fact, studies have shown that people who train outdoors actually enjoy it more than those inside.
You're Tired
Life can be hectic, which makes it easy to forego exercise when you're feeling tired and rundown. Instead of giving in to your fatigue, fight through it and take a walk. You may be surprised how much more energy you have and how that fatigue seems to magically disappear with a little exercise.
Try to catch yourself when you're making excuses to avoid your daily walk. Remember, once you make it a part of your routine, it'll be easier to stick to it and improve your health!
