What is Your Health Routine Missing?
By Sara Butler
You’re trying to live your healthiest life. That’s why you take the time to brush and floss each day and go to bed at a reasonable hour each night. But great health has a few more rituals that you might accidentally be missing. Try adding a few of these habits to your daily routine to increase your health factor!
Time in the Sunshine
Exposure to sunlight has a host of benefits. Your body’s production of Vitamin D is a huge one! But there are other benefits to time in the sun that you might be overlooking. Just 10 minutes in the sun each day can help improve your mental health and help you feel better. However, it’s important to remember that if you’re going to be in the sun for prolonged periods that sunscreen is a must.
You Have to Laugh
How much laughter do you fit into your day? You should aim to fit quite a lot since laughing regularly has some pretty awesome health benefits. It can help to support a healthy immune system, help to ward off insomnia and depression, and may even be linked to lower risk of cardiovascular disease. So, laugh for your heart health!
Do a Word Puzzle
People who regularly do word puzzles have been found to have a brain that functions a whopping 10 years younger than their actual age. That means they performed better on tasks involving memory, attention, and reasoning. So, exercise your brain just as you would any other part of your body and reap the rewards!
Have a Hug
It’s been found through some research that people who have a great social support network (which means they get more hugs) have fewer symptoms of the common cold. This may be a claim that needs more support, but getting more hugs over the course of the day is never a bad idea -- and if it helps to make you healthier, then that’s just a bonus!
You can eat right and get enough sleep every single night, but there’s more to your health than just nutrition or how much sleep you get each night. By incorporating these things into your daily health habits, you can take your overall health and wellness to the next level! Plus, they’re easy to do and enjoyable, so you’ll be happier and healthier!
