Stroller Struggles? Get Advice From the Chiropractor
By Brandi Goodman
Strollers come in handy when you have young kids. Being able to continue with your outside exercise, visit indoor places, and not have to carry a child around can be a great gift. However, that doesn't mean there aren't still stroller struggles that people face. With some advice from the chiropractor, you can make sure to continue the beneficial activity with as little pain as possible.
Adjust Your Stroller's Height
Tall parents often find themselves hunching over their too-small stroller. If your stroller is not adjustable, you'll need to get a better one. Having a stroller with an adjustable height allows you to raise or lower it so you can push it forward properly without hurting your back in the process. You also want to ensure you're standing properly behind it and facing forward so you don't cause sore spots in your arms, neck, or shoulders.
Stretch and Exercise
Stretching out your body regularly and getting routine exercise can help you maintain the ability to handle your stroller without discomfort. If your muscles are weak and your joints are inflexible, you may experience pain quickly as you try to push your pram. The more you walk and push your stroller, the more accustomed your body will become to the activity and better be able to handle it.
Wear the Right Shoes
High heels and stroller-pushing should never go hand-in-hand. Flats are also detrimental to the process. You need the right shoes if you're going to avoid discomfort to your lower body as you walk and push your child. A sturdy pair of shoes with excellent traction will be your best bet.
Get Chiropractic
Perhaps there's a joint restriction or subluxation in place that's inhibiting your abilities or causing pain. A chiropractor can help to correct this and restore your normal abilities. This may make it easier to push your stroller without feeling achy so quickly. Improved flexibility of your joints and enhanced range of motion are also possible, equally leading to your newfound stroller-pushing abilities -- no pain in sight.
Stroll around town with ease with the help of a chiropractor. With the right stroller height, good pair of shoes, a physically able body, and no joint restrictions in place, you will be better able to maintain your stroller routine with your tot pain-free. A stop at The Joint Chiropractic should be your first before starting your stroller routine.
