3 Healthy Meats to Add to Your Diet
By Genevieve Cunningham
Unless you are a vegetarian, meat can be an excellent addition to any diet. It offers us protein, which is an extremely important nutrient for overall health and body function. But it's safe to say that not all meat is made the same. You definitely can't eat fatty meats every day and expect to stay in good health. So what can you eat? If you need some good ideas for healthy meats in your diet, take a look at these three foods that make an excellent option.
Chicken
Chicken is a great meat to add to your diet. The key is to prepare it in the right way. You can't eat fried chicken every day, as this will contain far too many calories and fats. So how can you prepare it? Try sauteing it with some vegetables on top of the stove. Or, you can enjoy some baked chicken with various spices and herbs. Chicken goes well on top of a salad, in various casserole dishes, or it can stand alone as a main dish. If you need something healthy that offers you protein and other healthy nutrients, chicken is an excellent and easy place to start.
Fish
You've probably heard that fish is a healthy meat to add to your regular menu. But why? Fish contains healthy fats, fatty acids, plenty of protein, and very few calories. It's good for the brain, good for the gut, and good for the body as a whole. Add your grilled or baked fish to a salad, use it as a main dish, or experiment in any way that you see fit. It's tasty, healthy, and can definitely add some variety to your regular menu.
Lean Beef
Though it's not quite as healthy as chicken or fish, eating lean beef can be beneficial to your health. As long as you avoid the extremely fatty versions of beef, consuming a bit of this kind of meat can provide you with healthy blasts of protein and can definitely keep your menu interesting. Whether it's a steak, a roast, or a healthy ground beef, adding just a little bit of this into your life can bring you some of the healthy benefits without the negative side effects that usually accompany an overconsumption of beef products.
Meats can definitely be good for you. As long as it's used sparingly, it can give you plenty of benefits, help you build muscle, and give you energy. Use these healthy meat ideas in your diet, and you can improve your health and keep your diet well balanced and delicious.
