Fall Activities May Lean Your Way

For people who may have thought that the deck was stacked against them when it came to being active, when fall rolls around they may be able to rethink that idea.  Southern California has some perks such as not having to deal with so much heat as many other places in the country, but moving from summer vacations back to a better routine of trying to find ways to improve health still poses challenges.  General fall activities in this country help enable people to be able to shift gears.

Find Some Company and Play an Outdoor Game

There are plenty of opportunities to play tennis, golf, and similar activities year round, especially in San Diego County.  With the rest of the land in college athletics mode, a lot of people are focused on football.  This means it may be a little easier to find family or friends who will gladly accept the offer to play a pickup game of touch football.  They can burn up to a few hundred calories in an hour of playing.  When I was in college, I began playing a very casual game of touch football most afternoons.  It was very laid back with some real modified rules that only involved a little running.  It wasn’t long until I realized that I was in much better condition than ever before.  I made some small changes in my diet and lost a good bit of weight in only a few months.

Pick A Little Fruit

Paying a visit to someplace where you can can pick fruit can allow people to break the routine and participate in something different.  Since it involves reaching, bending, and moving, picking fruit is another way of getting a little exercise.  People can burn a couple of hundred calories while they are finding ways to fill a basket or bag.  It can be a nice change.

Investigate An Outdoor Market

Just about every community has some kind of farmers market.  By strolling around while looking at the various types of produce, you can get some new ideas.  Try picking up something new and taking it home.  Find a new recipe and get a friend or family member to help you attempt to make something you have never tasted.  It can be fun as well as healthy.  This can help your family become more willing to try new foods that may be included in their diet.  The result of healthy new foods and a little more exercise can be improved health overall.
