Fitness Tips for Busy Moms
By Sara Butler
Exercise is a very important part of your overall health and wellness. But as a mom, there have probably been more than a few times you’ve put your needs on the backburner for the family. There is a way you can have it all when it comes to caring for yourself while still caring for your family. Here are a few strategies to help you work some important fitness time into your day.
Get Others on Board
You need support from others in your family to help you meet your fitness goals. So, recruit them to your cause! Your partner should know how important exercise is to you so they can understand why you need to make time for it and more importantly how vital their role will be to your success. That way, you can work out a schedule where they take the kids so you can exercise. Get the grandparents on board too! The support of your family is essential to success.
Schedule the Time
Just as with any other important thing you have to do each day, scheduling time for exercise may be what you need to get it done. Budget time for a workout and put it on the schedule. Just as you wouldn’t miss your child’s doctor appointment or a meeting at work, don’t miss your workout time!
Hang in There
If you’ve been a parent for any amount of time, then you know that some days are easier than others. The same goes for your exercise plan. Some days getting a workout in will be super easy, others it will be a challenge. The important thing to remember is that you must hang in there through it all and just keep moving forward. Things won’t always go as planned, but that doesn’t have to ruin what you need to do for your own health and happiness in the long run.
Give Yourself a Break
You don’t need a whole hour to exercise, just stealing away 10 or 15 minutes is worth the effort. That’s because small amounts of physical activity can add up and help you work toward the results you want for your health and wellness.
No one is going to make sure you get what you need but you, so make your own health and fitness a priority!
