Dr. Ryan Wasilewski joined The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2019 with his arrival at the Montgomery Plaza clinic location. A graduate of Elmhurst (Ill.) College with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science -- he focused on kinesiology -- and a minor in business administration, he earned his doctorate of chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Ill.
Dr. Ryan -- he knows it’s a lot easier than Wasilewski -- appreciates working with people and providing solutions that aren’t predicated on medication and potential addiction. “The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is that I am able to help patients restore function, prevent injury, and optimize function of their health naturally,” he says.
Before relocating to Fort Worth, Dr. Ryan worked in the Chicago suburbs after being raised in Springfield, Ill.
The medical profession runs in his young family: he’s married to a nurse and they have two young children and a dog named Lucy. When he’s not working or spending time with his family, Dr. Ryan enjoys grilling, fishing, and working out.
First-hand experience with his own health and on the job helped Dr. Ryan discover that chiropractic was his calling.
“In college, I had injuries and knew there was more than just exercise and stretching to help me get better,” he says. “I started working at a chiropractic clinic as a physical therapist technician and learned -- and felt -- the benefits of chiropractic that helped me overcome my injuries and regular aches and pains.”
Dr. Ryan loves working at the Montgomery Plaza location. “Being in Fort Worth’s downtown area gives you the best mix of a big city feel with the small town living,” he says.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Ryan says he always keeps maraschino cherries in his refrigerator “so that I can enjoy a good old fashioned.”
If he could share dinner and drinks with any persons from history, there would be plenty of testosterone at the table; he would include three actors, including one martial artist, and a football legend. “Jason Statham and Bruce Willis would be invited because I enjoy a good action movie,” he says. “Chuck Norris for his special abilities and, because of his beard, I’ve been called him. And Walter Payton, who played running back for the Bears, to learn more about his amazing drive and work ethic.”
Dr. Ryan says there is little that compares to getting married and building a family together, but otherwise, the coolest thing he has ever done was a trip to the Southern Hemisphere “I went red stag deer hunting with a bow in New Zealand,” he says. “It was a great and exhilarating experience.”
