Dr. Carlos joined The Joint Chiropractic’s family of local healthcare providers in 2021 at Joint Chiropractic’s East Bay locations. A graduate of local Life West Chiropractic College, who studied Latin American Westernization and Capital Markets and Chiropractic medicine, he received his doctorate of chiropractic in 2020, he still enjoys learning and loves teaching and working with his patients about health and Chiropractic care.
Dr. Carlos, as he likes to be called, says the best thing about being in the chiropractic field is: “: I enjoy the life it gives back to people when they don’t have fear or anxiety about doing something they used to like or new they want to try because the pain might come back. People are stronger than they think and we are there to support them in their pursuit of living life.”
The second best thing about being in the chiropractic field is “I really enjoy seeing the progress that people make with chiropractic care. Hearing the stories they tell me about what they are now able to do. I think the human connection is valuable because it brings us together and this is one of the few professions that allow a human to interact with another human closely.”
Dr. Carlos grew up in the Palm Springs area and now enjoys living in the Bay Area near friends and family. He also enjoys hiking the national parks and enjoying disconnecting from the busy bay area life. I really like the ones that have water as it seems very calming to hear the sound of water flowing.
I also enjoy watching the newest sci-fi shows because as a kid I was always amazed at how fast we were advancing technology and now it seems like I can’t even keep up and those sci-fi shows don’t even seem that far off from the present.
I enjoy working out as it gives me the ability to test out my body and see where I can improve. I enjoy moving around and celebrating what my body can do rather than working out to feel pain. I used to be part of a dancing team in undergraduate school and miss the flexibility and agility I used to have. I hope to one day join another dancing class once more things begin to open up.
He knew chiropractic was his calling when- “ I was first exposed to chiropractic because my mother severely injured her back when she was working. She is the hardest working and caring mother and sadly this injury changed her life. She was injured at 35 years old and was considered disabled for 7 years because of the considerable amount of back pain she had daily. Insurance only covered PT and Pain killers and a consult for surgery. When she was told that if they operated there could be the chance of not being able to walk again she decided to find another option. When she started going to a chiropractor she was able to be adjusted regularly and able to get the strength to start working again with a lot less pain and avoiding surgery. She still works very hard and has some pain, but now is able to enjoy things that otherwise would make her think twice about doing such as going to family events for a prolonged period or a simple hike..”
The thing I like best about working at the East Bay locations of The Joint,” he says, “This area is full of hard-working people that just want to be the best versions of themselves to be there for their families.
In Case You Didn’t Know: What’s the one thing in your fridge that you must have, and why? Dr. Carlos says he must have: I must always have a cold brew coffee. I make too much in the morning and just save the rest for the afternoon when I want to have that amazing roasted taste again.
Four “famous” people, living or dead (but not friends/family members), who would comprise your perfect dinner party, and why: Guillermo del Toro, Walt Disney, Simon Sinek, Nicola Tesla. It would be a very cool evening for sure.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done, and why was it so cool: I traveled to Japan during one of the winter breaks between quarters and had an upcoming State Board Exam upon returning and had always been told it was the most difficult one. I got up and studied at the cafe every morning on that trip from 6 am to 11 am and then went sightseeing. I got to study in cafes that had animals like owls, cats, penguins, hedgehogs, and dogs. So I got to study in different cafes with different animals while making sure I did not fail my test. I passed :)
