Dr. Akeem Morris was born and raised on the island of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. He always knew that he was destined to help others, but he never expected the series of events that fatefully led him to pursue a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Growing up in the Virgin Islands, chiropractic wasn’t very prevalent in his community. His first exposure to the profession was in high school when his eldest sister started to work for a local chiropractor.
A few years later his sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was benign, however it still required surgery to remove it due to the symptoms that were present. After the second surgery his sister suffered from a blood clot that caused a stroke. With his sister having to go through different therapies to recover, this was when chiropractic became interesting to Dr. Morris; It was very intriguing that through adjustments, his sister was able to gain sensation in her hands and legs. At the time he did not understand how powerful adjustments could be but he was eager to find out.
Upon graduating from Charlotte Amalie High School, he relocated to the US mainland to further his education. While completing his bachelors in biology, he continued being a student-athlete and played collegiate baseball on scholarship. During the summer breaks he fed his hunger with internships in the healthcare profession. In 2015, he completed his bachelors of science degree with honors, and in 2020 he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic with his Doctor’s degree. Since then, Dr. Morris has been practicing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida perfecting his craft. Over the past 3 years Dr. Morris has spent his time working with a variety of patients, however has had a passion for helping professional athletes optimize their elite function while competing. Dr. Morris now looks forward to serving the community of Capitol Hill.

Dr. Joseph Kelly began his journey as a local healthcare provider at The Joint Chiropractic in 2022 in Arlington, Va., and in 2023 he joined the team at the Logan Circle 14th Street clinic to continue doing the work he finds so rewarding.
“Working as a chiropractor offers a great opportunity to help people achieve optimal health and wellness through non-invasive, natural methods,” he says. “There’s satisfaction in alleviating pain, improving mobility, and enhancing overall quality of life for the patients. I strive to develop trust and a better understanding of each patient's unique needs and challenges. It’s rewarding to be a part of the patient's health journey and witness their progress over time.”
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Kelly has a goldendoodle named Doobey, and in his spare time he loves to play golf and travel. “I am a passionate food enthusiast and avid golfer,” he says. “I have thoroughly explored Washington, D.C.'s culinary scene and enjoy engaging in discussions about food culture, golf, and tennis.”
At Georgia State University Dr. Kelly majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, then went on to earn an MBA in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. He got a Doctorate of Chiropractic at Life University in Marietta, Ga.
“I met my mentor in 2012, when I decided to change my career,” Dr. Kelly says. “I had prior injuries from sports and motor vehicle accidents that were healed through the beauty of chiropractic care. I had previous gastrointestinal issues which were relieved through adjustments.”
Dr. Kelly likes working at The Joint because “the clinics primarily focus on spinal adjustments without additional services like X-rays or physical therapies,” he says. “This allows me to streamline the services and focus on providing chiropractic care efficiently.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
He always keeps water and electrolytes available for hydration.
If he could create the ideal dinner party and include famous guests, Dr. Kelly would invite: Leonardo da Vinci for his masterful arts; Albert Einstein for his intelligence; Martin Luther King for his civil rights movement; and King Solomon for his wisdom and knowledge.
