Dr. Andrew J. Wenger became a welcome addition to The Joint Chiropractic family in 2019 with his arrival at the Davie clinic location. He is a graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. He received his doctorate of chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida.
“I love helping patients achieve their health and wellness goals through the power of adjustment,” he says. “The other thing that’s so gratifying is getting to know our patients while watching them achieve results with our help.”
A product of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dr. Andrew is active and enjoys sports. “During my spare time you’ll find me in the CrossFit gym improving my strength, mobility and flexibility,” he says. “When I’m not working out, I’m at home watching football, hockey, and spending time with friends and family.”
Those pursuits, which include the Michigan Wolverines, New England Patriots and Detroit Red Wings, are often spent with his dog, Finn, and girlfriend, Kaylyn.
Sports, and one of its consequences, eventually led Dr. Andrew to this point in his life.
“I was a hockey player since I could start playing sports,” he says. “I’ve played floor hockey, roller hockey, and ice hockey growing up. When I was 19, I began experiencing lower back pain that forced me to stop playing sports and become less active. My father recommended I see the chiropractor he was working with in our hometown. After trying out a chiropractor closer to my university, I made the switch to Dr. Matt DeVreugd. He helped me by relieving my pain and increased my interest in chiropractic care. Ultimately, Dr. DeVreugd helped me get into chiropractic school. It was at that point I knew chiropractic care was my calling.”
He couldn’t be more pleased doing what he’s doing. “The Joint is a fun and open-air environment with no enclosed stuffy rooms,” he says. “It’s a place to get your spine checked, have fun, get educated, and get back on the road to health and wellness.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Andrew says he always has room for a couple of specific condiments in his refrigerator: “Sauce goes great on everything, especially hot sauce and barbecue sauce.”
If he could bring together any four people from history to his ideal dinner party, Dr. Andrew would include chiropractic pioneers Daniel David Palmer and his son BJ Palmer, quarterback Tom Brady, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
“I admire them for their leadership qualities and abilities,” he says. “The Palmers were innovators in chiropractic, and I would love to sit and hear their thoughts on chiropractic from their time to today. Tom Brady, because he’s my favorite athlete and an example for all on how to be a great leader while continuing to defy age; he also went to the University of Michigan, my favorite school. I chose Steve Jobs particularly because of his hard work, leadership, and ambition; any person who can take a company from a garage to one of the most well-recognized companies in the 21st century deserves our admiration, and he is one person I would love to share a meal with and ideas about business.”
Dr. Andrew says the coolest thing he ever did was move to Florida. “The reason it’s so cool is the opportunities here that have opened for me,” he says. “I came here to go to chiropractic school. During my three years here, I’ve met people who will be my friends for a lifetime. I got my first dog, joined the CrossFit gym, and transformed my health. I have been adopted into a new family, and got my first place with my girlfriend. All these things have been a huge blessing and helped make me who I am today. None of this would have been possible without taking a big risk and moving to Florida.”
Dr. Kevin Lopez joined the team of local healthcare providers at The Joint Chiropractic with his arrival at the Plantation clinic location, where he serves patients doing the work he finds so gratifying..
“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is being able to help people get out of the pain they’ve been experiencing,” he says. “I also love the relationships built with the patients during the course of treatment.”
You can call him Dr. Lopez or Dr. Kevin, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Pennsylvania before getting his doctorate degree in chiropractic from National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Ill. He has previously worked in the Florida cities of Delray Beach, Pompano, and Margate.
A product of Long Island, N.Y., Dr. Kevin has a cat named Ziggy and enjoys reading, as well as participating in all aspects of lacrosse: coaching, playing, and refereeing.
He says it’s gratifying to be involved in a vocation that allows him to use all of his medical skills. “I was looking into the different health fields available to me post-college,” he says, “and when I came across chiropractic, I knew it was the best combination of what I wanted to do.”
He says the thing he loves most about working at the Plantation clinic are the minimal wait times for his patients and that he is able to “put together the right treatment plan for the patient to receive the best care they need.”

Dr. Kevin says the one thing he always keeps in his refrigerator is orange juice: “There is nothing like starting the morning with a nice cold glass of OJ.”
If he could bring together any figures from history for a dream dinner party, he would send invitations to Benjamin Franklin, Cleveland Browns football Hall of Famer Jim Brown, President George Washington, and would include his mother and father. “Ben Franklin was a great inventor and statesman at a time when we needed one, and Jim Brown was one of the best lacrosse players to ever play the game; I would like to discuss with him the trials and adversity he faced while playing at Syracuse University,” he says. “It would be great to be able to learn from George Washington about the enormous responsibility associated with founding this great nation.”
Dr. Kevin says the coolest thing he has done took place when he lived abroad. “After I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, I had the opportunity to live in England for a year,” he says. “This program allowed me to work as a traveling gym teacher to introduce the sport of lacrosse to children throughout the region I was responsible for. I was also coaching, playing for, and growing a local club team. This experience allowed me to be part of the selection process for the British National Lacrosse team that would compete in the World Games.”
Dr. Corey Whitney became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2021 when he began serving residents in Davie as the clinic director; it gives him an opportunity to continue doing the work he finds so gratifying.
“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is meeting new people,” says the doctor who has been in the Miami area since 2018. “It’s so rewarding to be able to see my patients experience relief from the pain that they’ve been experiencing.”
Dr. Whitney worked previously in Ft. Myers and North Miami, but was raised in Montrose, Pa. His wife works for the University of Miami and they have four children. They also have a standard poodle named Phoenix. In his spare time, Dr. Whitney enjoys fishing and the martial arts.
There is no shortage of education in his background. He got his doctorate from National University of Health Sciences in Pinellas Park, and MBA from University of Dayton (Ohio), and masters degrees in psychology and microbiology, and bachelor’s degrees in psychology and biology, from University of South Florida in Tampa.
First-hand experience contributed to Dr. Whitney choosing a chiropractic path: “I had a severe injury as a child and after many, many years of pain, my mentor, a chiropractor and retired U.S. Navy UDT [underwater demolition team], relieved the pain and educated me on how to keep my body healthy.”
And now, he’s made it his life’s work.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Whitney thinks gouda cheese is amazing, so it’s the one thing he always makes sure he has stocked in his refrigerator.
If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, he would love to sit down with George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Gen. George Patton, and Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. “I’d love to hear their life stories and hear Freddie sing,” he says.
One of the most amazing experiences of his life included a trip well south of the border. “I helped many indigenous peoples in Central and South America,” he says. “It was cool because I learned about other cultures and made many new friends.”
