My first experience with Chiropractic was in 1994. I was very active and conscious about health and living a healthy lifestyle. I was involved in a weight lifting injury while performing squats. My friend and weight lifting partner had pulled the safety bars out from the “rack” before I had a chance to get the weight under control. I quickly twisted and fell to the ground and felt immediate sharp lower back pain. My friend’s brother-in-law happened to be a local chiropractor but I told him that it was OK “that it would eventually go away” Well, my job at the time consisted of a lot of sitting and the pain only got worse. By the third week my simple lower back pain had traveled down into my left leg so it made sitting at my job unbearable. So, I swallowed my pride and went to go see my friend’s bother-in-law. I walked into his office and found him to be professional and his office was very welcoming and relaxing to be in. He talked to me about Chiropractic asked me questions about my health and the injury. He did an exam, took X-rays, than placed hot packs on my back. The doctor came in laid me on my side and placed his hand on my lower back twisted my like a pretzel heard a series of pops and immediately my pain was gone! I was so amazed that I followed through my chiropractic care plan and went onto a maintenance plan. Half way though my initial care plan I had asked him where he went to school. I was so impressed with this type of healthcare that I quit my job at the Medical College of Wisconsin and enrolled in Chiropractic College in 1995.
I am a native of McHenry County. I grew up in Cary, attended grade school at Prairie Grove School. I am a 1987 graduate of Crystal Lake Central High school. I have three children and currently live in Woodstock. I feel very strongly about getting children under chiropractic care. All three of my children have been under chiropractic care since they were born. I have raised my kids as chiropractic kids and receive regular chiropractic adjustments. I as well my kids are on Gluten Free diets and maintain our health through chiropractic care, supplementation, herbal and homeopathic practices. We do however, seek emergency medicine when absolutely necessary. I would not be here today if it wasn’t for emergency medicine and talented medical profession in our area.
I view healing as a process and not an event. I have been witness to many chiropractic miracles throughout my 18 years of treating generations of family members. Besides treating children with everything from torticollis, ear and sinus infections, concussions and assisting in turning an infant that was breach presentation. My passion lies with treating families from infants to grandmas and grandpas. My emphasis is on the importance of family care because I truly believe when a family is growing physically, mentally and spiritually healthy together they are able to express their fullest potential to live and love more profoundly.
Dr. Robinson Alexis was born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti and relocated to the U.S. when he was seven years old. After growing up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida he moved to Illinois to further his education. Dr. Alexis received his bachelors of science degree in movement science from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
On January 10, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, killing more than 230,000 people and wounding more. Saddened by this tragic event, Dr. Alexis returned to Haiti to aid relief effort. During his time in Haiti, Dr. Alexis served as a translator for Haitian creole speakers and American English speakers. While serving as a translator, Dr. Alexis met an individual who changed his life. This life impacting individual was a chiropractor. Dr. Alexis watched him help countless people, while only using his hands.
Upon returning to the States, Dr. Alexis went on to achieve his doctorate of chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic where he was the president of Student American Black Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Alexis knows the power of chiropractic and is using the skills he learned in chiropractic school to change lives. His goal as a chiropractor is to identify how the body is impacted by daily life events, correct the imbalances that lead to the early degeneration and increased risk for injury and illness.
